DJ CFabb: Cleaning Shmeaning

5:10pm - Gather clothes scattered around the room that need to be washed and put them into the basket.

5:14pm - Enter the elevator to head to the basement laundry room, all the while thinking, "It's 5:15 on a gorgeous Thursday night so I'm sure no one will be doing laundry."

5:15pm - Walk towards the laundry room and see that the automatic light (that only goes on when someone is in the room) is on and think, "Shit."

5:16pm - See 4 maids folding dry laundry and see that all of the machine lids are down, which usually always means they are running.

5:17pm - Notice that two of the machines are not running but that the person has not come down to move her stuff into the dryers.

5:17pm - Contemplate taking whoever's stuff it is out of the washer and put it on top of another one so I can use it, I mean who knows how long it's been sitting there!

5:18pm - Decide to wait for the maids to leave. It's always better to violate someone's privacy without an audience.

5:20pm - Maids exit.

5:20pm - Enter laundry room. Open and close the lids on the two washers that contain stuff I need to move. Open and close them again, still contemplating what I would say should this person walk in and catch me moving her stuff, "I'm sorry I know this is so rude but I need these clothes for work tonight!" Total lie but whatever.

5:21pm - Doing it. Move her stuff to the top of another washer. Put my stuff in the washers very quickly and get my bag for my laundry card.

5:22pm - "You a$shole. After all of this, YOU FORGOT YOUR CARD UPSTAIRS?!?!" I thought to myself. THE WORST.

5:23pm - Head towards the elevators, very pissed off. As I approach the door, people exit the elevator. I notice they seem to be doing laundry and am now certain that it is the girl whose stuff I moved. I attempt to turn my body and fold up my basket, hoping she won't notice that I'm doing laundry because she will then see her stuff and know that I moved it. Yikes.

5:25pm - Decide to wait at least 10 mins before going back downstairs to start my machine. I do not want to run into her.

5:40pm - Go back downstairs to start my washers.

5:43pm - Start machine 1. Attempt to start machine 2...."LOW FUNDS," it tells me.

5:45pm - Even more pissed off, head back upstairs for cash.

5:47pm - Add money to my card and start machine 2.

There is nothing I hate more than having to trek back and forth to the laundry room, especially when I have to make extra trips because I forgot my card or do not realize the card is out of money! Later in the laundry excursion, I made sure to put two articles of clothing in two different dryers in order to save them because someone else was doing laundry on the same schedule that I was. It's just ridiculous....a building with 8 floors should have more than 6 washers and dryers!
Anyway, in between trips to the laundry room I decided to really clean my apartment. Usually when I "clean up my apartment" what I really mean is that I'm tidying up because I just pick up the clothes off the floor, re-organize the bathroom, and maybe dust a bit here and there. However, since I bought a Swifter Wet Jet (that is absolutely addicting) and actual cleaning supplies for the bathroom, I was anxious to use them. I cleaned the bathroom better than I have since I've lived here and at first it was satisfying but I was quickly over it. Not to mention the fact that I have a boy here half the time which leaves an apartment with different dirtinesses than I'm used to having (no offense, babeeee). Give me spray tan stains, I can handle it but boy stuff was just like, "wtf, I ain't in Kansas no mo'." By the time I got mid-way through cleaning the shower I started to think about how many more years I have of cleaning a bathroom and I didn't like that much at all, "Yeahhhh so I'll eventually pay someone to do this sh!t for me, fingers crossed."

I was pissed off at the laundry debacle and coughing from the fumes in the cleaning products but hey, at least I made a good playlist....

DJ CFabb: "Music is a safe kind of high" - Jimi Hendrix

Wednesday afternoon was the first afternoon in weeks that I've had to just sit in my apartment and chill with the music on. Instead of having a quick 20 minutes in between two jobs, I had a good 4 hours to do nothing. I never thought I'd appreciate 4 short hours of nothing but I did. I realized that music has not been getting the proper attention that it deserves in my life recently. My walks and bus rides to work are short and I don't even listen to it when I exercise anymore because of yoga so all I hear is the top 40 hits at the bar all the time. Yikes. But as I sat there listening to my iPod on complete random, I found myself thinking, "Oooo I like this song!" Well duh you like this song, it's your music! Anyway, I'm re-connected to la musica and want to share some new finds with all of ya'll....

Hey, Have You Heard? Sassarella is Back, Biotches.

In the last month I have only sat down to write twice and both times came up with something so mediocre that I didn't even bother to post it. I've been in a rut. Someone asked me where Sassarella has been and the answer that came immediately to mind was, "I have nothing to say right now." I'm always working and when I'm not working I'm either at yoga or partying, neither of which typically inspire too many blog posts. However, in the last month I have heard a lot of things that have either made me laugh, cry, or simply struck a cord....

"Can you help me? I've never had a boyfriend so I'm not sure how these boyfriend style jeans are supposed to look. Do you like them?" ~ most adorable girl in her mid-twenties shopping at Loft

"I need to call my boyfriend, he'll know what to do. I'm gonna have to transfer! My parents are going to kill me! I'm supposed to be watching after my sister and now she's here getting stitches. It is a big deal! It is a big deal! You don't understand, people are laughing at me, but you don't understand. My parents went to Vanderbilt and I go to GW, which is so much worse. They're going to make me transfer!!!" ~ girl at the GW emergency room in the next bed over from me, uncontrollably sobbing of course

"YOU CAN'T SIT WITH US!!!!!" ~ Dani, Brittany, and myself

"Have you ever thought about what protects our hearts?
Just a cage of rib bones and other various parts.
So it's fairly simple to cut through the mess,
and stop the muscle that makes us confess" ~ Ingrid Michaelson, Breakable

"You have so many weapons, most of which
you don't even know are weapons." ~ Ceze to the Eeze

"Looks like boo is duncan hines!!" ~ Mensing

"Fools in love, are there any creatures more pathetic?
....I should know because this fool's in love again." ~ Inara George, Fools in Love

"I think you're phenomenal." ~ Wouldn't you like to know

"What time did we leave last night?"
"It must have been pretty late, the bar was definitely closed."
"Yeah well I mean one bartender gave me a ride and you went home with the other one....so yeah, I'd say it was pretty late."
"WOW, are we classy or what?!" ~ take a wild guess

"WOO WOO WAHHHHH!" ~ Oscar on my love, Zack Ryder, getting hurt on Monday Night Raw

"I'm the mayor of Love in Homeless Places, bitch." ~ Me to Gus

"However far away, I will always love you." ~ Adele, Lovesong

"So, you're pretty much being the worst person alive. Yes you are." ~ Brittany

"Can I keep you?" ~ Confidential

"It was so nice to meet your parents. Are they married a long time because you can really see the connection. All three of you seemed very well connected, it was nice." ~ my manager at Loft

"I find you so much less attractive now
because I know you slept with him." ~ B.K.

"She is the best thing that has ever happened to me. When I think back, things that I wasn't happy about had to line up for us to be together and I couldn't be happier now that they did. I really believe I am the luckiest guy in the world" ~ If it's not a pail, then it's gotta be a....

"I could start fires with what I feel for you" ~ David Ramirez, Fires

"I want your boobs. I'm gonna play my sexy time play list. Can us four get a house together?!" ~ Car Bomb Kate 2008

And finally, "history repeats itself, why is Brady wearing Uggs for men?!" ~ Missy Modell, The GMEN Are Back Again

Sassarella Says....I haven't been particularly happy or unhappy recently. I'm in a state of limbo, teetering from happy one day and frustrated or upset the next. This is partly because I'm exhausted, but also because...because...of a lot of things. I'm not loving my retail job, Rhino has slowed down since football ended, and I just can't seem to get my love life under control. I act irrationally and impulsively. I miss my Jersey friends, I miss Luc, and I want this one particular job really badly but I know it's not going to happen over night. I'm not happy that I rarely have a day to myself, therefore I don't write blog posts and my apartment is always mess. However, I am happy when I am with my friends and we're belting Taylor Swift songs at Kandi & Pipers Mac N Chz Palace or when we're re-capping a great night. I am happy that the GIANTS won the Super Bowl and on Friday nights when I get to bartend. I'm happy when he's tickling me at 7am and when the guys are teasing me about nothing. I am happy that my parents came to town, that Pinkberry always hits the spot, and that I'm finally getting back into shape since the holiday season is over. As I sit here and think about it, it's not that I need to teeter the seesaw to happy because like I said, I'm not unhappy, but rather I'd like to tip it over to stability. I am happy when I am overall stable with spurts of spontaneity. Hopefully one of these days I will have just that.

DJ CFabb: #ThankYouSteve

There are certain trends within social groups, for instance, our use of the saying "the worst." Now I will admit that I was an abuser of the term and have since cut back but every now and then it shows up again. Another trend down here in DC with us bar people is the use of the phone application called foursquare. If you're not familiar with the app, wherever you go you can "check in" (you've probably seen all of the places I "check in" to on Facebook. By checking in to a place, you might get a coupon or a discount but primarily we use it to keep tabs on each other. It's a simple and easy way to find out where everyone is going out on a Friday night or where someone is working so you can go visit. We also use it to keep ourselves entertained because you can create your own names for check-ins, such as "Fred's Four Loko Freakout" or "Hookers Boozing at the Pint." That's how we use it anyway. So you get points for checking in and can even become the Mayor of a place. I currently hold two mayorships, one at the Cleveland Park Bar & Grill Rooftop Bar and another at the Rhino Beer Tub. It just means you go there a lot and run sh!t (kidding but not).

Another component of foursquare is that you can collect badges for going to certain places a lot or by going to the same type of place a lot. For example, I have a "Mall Rat" badge, the "Local" badge for attending the same places over and over, and the "Downward Facing Dog" badge because I check in to the yoga studio all the time. And now for the point of all of this...I "checked in" to the Apple Store in Georgetown on Friday because I finally got an iPhone! By doing so, I unlocked the "Jobs Badge." When you click on this badge for more info it says, "Here's to the crazy ones. #ThankYouSteve"

So here's to Steve! Thank you, Steve, for making all things Apple (especially my beautiful new iPhone). And here's to Sassarella aka DJ CFabb for bringing new beats to your life. These are for sure going to be loaded onto my new baby.

"Silly woman, come here let me hold you" - Eli Young Band

Fact: I am an over-analyzer.
Pro: I make sound and reasonable decisions based on meaningful thought.
Con: I read into almost everything.
Result: Freaking out before coming around to sound and reasonable conclusions.

To drill it into your heads for the bazillionth time, I'm very happy. I owe part of this great happiness to *ahem* a certain person (there ya go, Aubs, tease away). I haven't had much to say about this undefined relationship because for the first time, I'm not "pulling a Christie" and completely over-analyzing it. I am simply going with it and taking things a day at a time. Ya know when it's too early to actually have meaningful things to say to a person whether it be because you don't want to freak them out or scare them off? Well, in this case, it's just because I don't have the words. I'm sticking with the mindset that right now, it's working. Actually, it's better than working. It's keeping a smile on my face and that's all I need to know. However, I am entering the scary zone. The zone where you feel your tiny sense of control fading away because you know you care. Whenever I start to feel an over-analyzing moment coming on, I turn to my good friend, la musica. I have heard a decent amount of positive feedback concerning the "DJ CFabb" posts, so I thought I'd let the music speak for me. This selection of songs is a bit different from the norm aka it's not house music, mash-ups, and anything Guetta or Avicii (sorry to those hoping it was) but instead I took things low key and a lil bit country! Remember, sometimes change is good and you might be surprised by what new songs you like. Keep an open mind and set of ears!

"Lost and Found" by Katie Herzig

"Lucky Now" by Ryan Adams

"One Life" by James Morrison

"Blood" by The Middle East

"Be Easy" (Acoustic) by Radical Something

"Words I Say" by Justin Timberlake

"Give A Little More" by Maroon 5

"Never Gonna Leave This Bed" by Maroon 5

"Take a Back Road" by Rodney Atkins

"Wagon Wheel" by Old Crow Medicine Show

"I Got You" by Thompson Square

"Crazy Girl" by Eli Young Band

DJ CFabb: "It's the way I'm feeling I just can't deny" - RiRi

I live my life under the impression that everything happens for a reason. All of the events of the summer whether in my travels, my love life, or my friendships have brought me to where I am sitting today...at Starbucks in Washington, DC. Not only am I sitting at Starbucks in Washington, DC but I'm sitting here grinning from ear to ear because I know that things are going the way they are supposed to for what feels like the first time in awhile. My one concern aka the big girl J-O-B is still an issue but I just can't believe that the universe would make me this happy to only come crashing down on me in a couple of weeks when another rent check is due and I'm still jobless. Something is around the corner, it has to be. With that being said, everything else is aligning just as it should. I have a job on the weekends that I adore, mainly because of the people I get to work with for about 48 hours straight. I have friends here who have done nothing but make sure that I'm having the time of my life. I live in a city that feels like home. It's getting to the point where there are few places I can go without running into someone I know. I know it sounds really cliche and very "oooo aren't you just soooo cool" to say this but the people who make up the crowd of "industry workers" from the various bars and restaurants in the city, is by far the most fun, beneficial, "it" crowd, welcoming, and protective group to be apart of in a city.

Because of all of this, I'm that girl that I used to hate to see walking down the street - the girl who has a little pep in her step, the girl who looks like she had a great night with a great guy, the girl who has it figured out, the girl who feels good about herself, the girl who is so happy to be going wherever it is she's going and it effing rocks. Now, like I said, talk to me in a few weeks and see how things are going if the whole J-O-B thing isn't working out and I'm FREAKING OUT but wahhhhh I just can't believe that I will have to go through that. So anyway, here are some songs that describe how I'm feeling this week. I hope that they either enhance your current happiness or pull you outta the dark place you might find yourself in today.

"We Found Love" by Rihanna ft. Calvin Harris  (LOVE LOVE LOVE!)

"Without You" (R3hab Remix) by David Guetta ft. Usher

"Shake It Out" (Remix) by Florence & the Machine ft. The Weekend

"Dancing in a Starship" by Yoni and DiBella

"Vamos A Los Levels" by Loona and Avicii

"Crank It Up" by David Guetta ft. Akon

"Hangover" by Flo Rida and Taio Cruz

"Good Love Control" (3LAU Bootleg) by Alesso and Afrojack

"Cracked Promises" by 5 & A Dime

"Paper Towels!" (Deadmau5 x Lazy Rich x Britney Spears) by Kap Slap

"That We Loved" (Sex Ray Vision Remix) by De-Lor

And if you're not a fan of this kinda musica, here is one of my favorite country songs at the moment...

"Run" by Matt Nathanson ft. Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush

Sassarella Says...sometimes things do go they way they're supposed to, it's not unheard of. I've learned that it is absolutely necessary to capitalize on the periods of time that are above and beyond awesome because ya never know when a test is coming. What I'm hoping is that despite the fact that my life will get a bit more serious and responsibility driven the older I get, after football season ends, and when I get a 9-5er type job that I can maintain the youthful spirit I currently float around on. My life should only get better and better and my 9-5er job should only make me feel like I've completed the puzzle. I'm not naïve enough to think that I won't go through rough patches but right now, those thoughts are far, far away. Enjoy la musica, dolls!

DJ CFabb: Team #GymSwag

There was once a time when Lauren and I literally could not be at the gym at the same time. We would immediately start gabbing about nonsense and completely forget about working out. Now that only happens on occasion and we've somehow been able to get work done together at the gym. Do work. This week we're calling our running, zumba-ing, and ab crunching duo, "Team #GymSwag." To be on Team #GymSwag you have to be in either all black or in black and white attire and black sneakers with a popping neon color somewhere on them. If you're going to wear a color, it should match the poppin neon color, and if it doesn't match, it should certainly not clash. For example, my teal blue undies matched the teal blue on my kicks and Lauren's yellow neon sports bra matched the yellow neon in her sneaks. You get my drift.

To be on Team #GymSwag you must also have motivation to support the workout. Like for us this week, it's D'Jais. We have semi-serious plans on going to the juice head and Snooki look-a-like filled bar this weekend down the shore so obviously we have to look fresh-2-death. So whether your motivation is for a guy, for revenge, or for like health or whatever, ya just gotta have a target. When Pauly yells, "taxis sono qui" you'll be good to go.

Coming off of a fabulous weekend, including lots of tequila at Sona and lots of Nonna's Grandma pizza I needed a little boost to get my workout going. And part of Team #GymSwag is the music. Gotta have the beats. I know I just posted a bunch but I have so many new ones that I just have to share...enjoy!

"Turn Me On" by David Guetta & Nicki Minaj

"Night of Your Life" by David Guetta & Jennifer Hudson

"Give Me Everything" (Sex Ray Vision Remix) by Pitbull

"The Killer Satisfaction" (mashup) by Yoni

"Just A Little More Love" (Big Room Remix) by David Guetta

"Accidents Happen" by Zoe Badwi

"Stay Awake" by Example

"Sunshine" by David Guetta & Avicii

"Rolling Joints" by 5 & A Dime

"Let's Play" by Kristina Maria

"Wonderland" by Natalia Kills

DJ CFabb: Got Soup?

As my brother would say, my life right now is full of bisque. Yup, a big bowl of lobster bisque with croutons. Lauren and I had a good laugh yesterday about how my life at times seems utterly unreal considering all of the same guys, particularly the list I mentioned in yesterday's post, keep doing and saying things that don't make any bit of sense! The phrase, "that would happen to you" is used quite often in my conversations with my friends and family.

My existence feels like a perpetual Grey's Anatomy elevator.

That video is actually hilarious but I too am constantly wishing I had taken the g.d. stairs. Anyway, I'm over it aka cue the heavy dependence on music. Here's what I'm listening to right now!

"Why I Love You" - Jay-Z & Kanye West featuring Mr. Hudson

"Titanium" - David Guetta featuring Sia

"Don't Give Up On Us (Enough is Enough)" - Avicii featuring Yolanda Selini

"Turn It Up (Sex Ray Vision Remix)" - Taryn Manning

"Work Hard, Play Hard" - Tiesto featuring Kay

"I Can Only Imagine" - David Guetta featuring Chris Brown and Lil Wayne

And in case you want to take it down a notch, here are two sick mash-ups...

"Skinny Pain" - Mother Earth Remixes & Young Church (2pac vs. Birdy)

"Stan (You're Not Sorry)" (Urban Noize Remix) - Eminem and Taylor Swift

DJ CFabb: "This is my west coast intervention and I'm getting on that plane" - My Favorite Highway

Ever notice how "what the hell" is always the right answer? - Marilyn Monroe

Where do I even begin? Friday night I went out to dinner in Jersey City after seeing my sister's new place. It's gorgeous, it over looks the water and the New York City skyline...you'd all be jealous. We went to Amelia's for dinner and after a Johnnie Walker Black I learned that the guys were going to Dark Horse in Morristown. I hate the Dark Horse but I figured, what the hell, just go! The evening was, for the most part, an epic success at a good time. Whenever I'm with this crew, it feels like a blast from the past but better. And besides, I was wearing incredibly bright blue pants. WOWZAAS.

Saturday, I spent a lot of the day trying to figure out a game plan for the rest of the weekend. Through my conversations with Lauren and a lovely little text from Tanya Bo Banya, we decided to go out to Sona, what the hell right? It was the BEST time. We danced for hours and made new friends. Lauren even danced with a midget man (is that kosher to say?) well irregardless, he didn't help his cause by humping her legs. He practically tried to get in her lap and at that moment I laughed so hard my stomach hurt.

Sunday, what the hell I'll say it, it sucked with the exception of Zumba.

However then we get to Monday aka Tiki Monday. Butthead Friend and I drove down to Martell's Tiki Bar to meet up with Hill Horo Babes and Lauren at 10:30AM. What the hell, what else do I have to do on a Monday? Tiki Monday owned us. Hillary actually went in the ocean (or as she would say, "the New Jersey shore"), Lauren packed 1/2 of her slice of pizza in her LV bag to save for later, and then there was that whole pickle incident. We were on the beach ordering drinks until 5pm, stopped in a real restaurant for food, and then ventured back to Tiki. We took shots with Angelina from the Jersey Shore, hung out with "Jay" and Chris, and drank more SoCo than one should ever drink in a half hour time period. There was a house party, a pool, Avicii, and cherry vodka. My savior picked me up from the house and took me back to Tiki until closing, what the hell why not? Ace, favorite juice head and gorilla king fed me pizza like a baby and ordered a few more Tiki Teas before finally surrendering. Hey Ace, Lauren and I are still laughing about, "take care of her, she has something on her nose!" (I got a tad sunburned but what the hell, it was worth it and thank God for you, Buddy).

I've had a genuine blast this past weekend (and week day) but today I leave for the west coast. Peace out, Dirtttty Jerz, I'll catch in a few! What the hell, why not jet set out to California for a bit? Ok, I will. The most recent DJ CFabb post was all about the Jersey music, however today's post is all about California. Yay, I can be a hipster! Enjoy the tunes.

"You're Making it Come Alive" by My Favorite Highway

"I Will Remain" by Matthew & the Atlas

"Believe Me" by Ellie Goulding

"In Love, Not Limbo" by Of Oceans

"She Loves Everybody" by Chester French

"Static Waves" by Andrew Belle

"Save the World Tonight (acoustic)" by Collin McLoughlin

"You Have My Attention" by Copeland

"Thistled Spring" by Horse Feathers

"Animal" (Miike Snow cover) by Javier Dunn

"Wide Eyes" by Local Natives

Sassarella Says...I spent almost two hours making a playlist for the plane. I'm a music junkie, what can I say? I also have no idea why these videos are soooooo large and in charge but I can't fix it, so deal with it. Katy Perry says California Gurlz are unforgettable....let's see how this Jersey girl manages. Peace outtie.
